Education/Training/Certification:
In order to become a Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) you need to be licensed the licencing will vary by state and level of EMT. There training programs vary from 2-6 months. They have to train at an emergency medical service academies, community colleges, technical schools and universities. In order to finish these courses you need to take 100 hours of that class.
Responsibilities and/or Daily Activities:
EMT have to assess the medical needs of the sick or injured and this has to be done quickly, because it could end someones life. Say there was a car crash the EMT would have to choose the most injured person first. EMTs will have to know how to pick a person up and put them on the bed. They also will have to know how to handle there stress.
Salary:
Most EMT/Emergency Medical Technicians get paid an average of $50,620-$34,030 or an hourly of $14.00, depending on what level your on.
Pros/Cons:
-I would really like to save peoples lives
-It would be nice to know how everything works
-I think that I would freak out if i saw blood
-I cant live with the fact that i killed someone, if that did happen
Interest in the Job:
On a scale from 1-10 my interest in being a EMT is of around a 1 because I really cant deal with a lot of blood, and the thought that someone might die under my care.
